Can Masturbation Lead To A Bald Head?

People prefer not to talk about it. Many are ashamed or embarrassed to admit it. But the truth is, that most people masturbate. Even though there are a lot of myths surrounding it, masturbation is a perfectly normal and healthy act of indulgence.

Masturbation does not cause your hair to fall out and there is no connection between the two. Let us find out why masturbation is the last thing you need to worry about while being concerned about your hairline. There are two major myths around it.

A common myth that has linked masturbation and hair fall relates to semen. Semen contains a high amount of protein. When you ejaculate the semen that the body loses deprives the body of this protein. Everyone knows that protein is needed for hair regrowth and growth.

What many are unaware of is that the quantity of semen coming out of every ejaculation is quite small. It only contains approximately 3.3 to 3.7 ml of semen which is not sufficient to cause hair loss.

2.  Increased level of testosterone

This is the second most prevalent misconception among people. It is related to a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It is said that increased testosterone due to masturbation, further increases the levels of DHT in your body. A high amount of DHT can certainly have a negative impact on your hair health.

Several studies have pointed that men who did not masturbate for a period of time actually showed an increase in their testosterone levels. Hence, we can say that abstaining from masturbation may cause an increase in testosterone and consequently DHT levels. Not the other way round.

Masturbation may not be the actual cause behind your hair fall. There are other reasons that might be harming the health of your hair.

Hair fall is something that no one would like to experience. Even though you cannot avoid it completely, there are certain things you can do to minimize it. Here are some ways by which you can slow down the pace of your hair fall.

A scalp massage stimulates the hair follicles by increasing the blood flow to the scalp.You can do this with the help of an oil. For centuries now, coconut oil has been considered as the best oil for hair loss and regrowth. Other hair oils like almond oil, mustard oil, and rosemary oil can also be used. A hair care regime that consists of frequent hair oiling can also prevent  hair fall due to dandruff. A well moisturised scalp will contribute greatly to an improved hair growth over a period of time.

2.  Exercise regularly

Exercising regularly is one of the best ways to minimize stress and enhance your hair health. Exercise enhances the circulation of blood in your body and hair. It will make your hair follicles strong. Over a period of time it can prevent premature hair fall and balding.

3.  Eat a protein-rich diet

Your hair is made up of a protein called keratin. Naturally, you cannot deny the importance of a protein rich diet for hair growth. Protein is the building block of your hair. Eating protein rich foods like eggs, beans, nuts, and seeds will strengthen your hair follicles. They will also help you combat the issue of dry and frizzy hair. Try to include more protein sources in your diet. You will feel its effects in your hair health soon.

4.  Supplement with biotin

Biotin is a B vitamin and is essential for hair growth. As we know, your hair is made up of the protein called keratin. Biotin helps to improve keratin’s structure. Thus, it helps your hair stay in the prime of their health. Apart from taking a biotin supplement, you can also use a biotin shampoo to wash your hair. There are several biotin shampoos available online as well as in stores.

Thus we see that there is no evidence that links masturbation with hair fall. On the contrary, there are a host of other factors that may harm the health of your hair. It’s easy to fall under the trap of myths and overlook the reality.
